    • 5th amendment dead? Government mandates kill switch in all vehicles from 2026 forward

You have the right to freely move about. You get in your car, you go where you want to go. Well, that will change from 2026 on. The government will allow law enforcement use of a kill switch in all vehicles from 2026 forward.

What does that mean? It means if a police officer wants to stop your car, he can. Whether it is a lawful stop or not doesn't seem to matter.

Why is this important? Well, it is impossible to avoid politics here but Canadian Truckers and supporters are protesting vaccine mandates. If those trucks and vehicles were equipped with a kill switch, the government would and could shut them down before they ever made it to their destination.

Do you trust the government to use this power for your own good or their own power? Do you want the government to have a backdoor into your vehicle that monitors your driving habits?

Who decides when this kill switch is used? Is there an appeal process? What if you are in an emergency situation and would prefer a speeding ticker than not getting your loved one to the hospital in time?

This kill switch is unconstitutional but will Americans even be aware of it until it is too late?

No. As the current state of things shows.

But it's long overdue to fight back. The Canadians have more balls than we do right now.

So many ways this could go wrong.

Also, why do they need this in the 1st place?

They are never ever going to allow people the possibility of automotive blockades again. It isn’t about your safety, it’s about theirs.

How long have cars had electronic speed limiters or other controls that are eventually cracked.

what makes you think the aftermarket won’t be able to crack the kill switch too?

You’re right. If the last two years taught us anything it’s ‘trust the government’ for your safety.

A classic car will be viewed like a classic timepiece versus an Apple watch.

A Patek Phillipe doesn't need a software update. And it looks better. And it doesn't track you or need to be charged overnight...
