New Mercedes 4 cylinder motors to be built by Nissan and Mercedes to build Nissan cars in Mexico? You read it right

Well, get ready for the new line of Mercedes 4 cylinder motors going into the A, B, and CLC class cars sharing the new MFA platform to be built for Daimler by Nissan. Nissan will produce the engines at its powertrain plant in Tennessee. Daimler intends to set up a plant next door to Nissan's Mexico plant which will expand the partnership between the two significantly. The new plant will be used to produce small models for Nissan and Mercedes.

The MFA platform on which the A and B Class cars are based will be used for at least 5 models. Expect the new Nissan produced four cylinders to go into all of them. The partnership may even expand to larger models but the idea of an S-Class made in Mexico using a Nissan motor likely does not sit well with everyone. We will see how this relationship develops over the next few years.

Companies want to save money however they can and spread development costs.
