That's funny.. He's always talked about grabbing the S/C from you. I'm sure It'll happen soon enough considering the way he is with his cars.

Yea new motor but its a used low mileage unit from a salvage yard. It was a spun rod bearing. I have a friend that went through the same thing. I know of several others as well.. Sh*t sucks..

I've had my SMG pump replaced too..

Man, the M5 is an awesome car, when running right. Too bad it seems to give you a lot of (expensive) trouble. $40k in repairs is insane.

Mine is a VERY late build 2006. Built 1 week before they started 07's and 6 months before 08's. I would get a 2008+ if I were you. 6 speed is a safer bet but I really enjoy the SMG.

    My problems were..

    SMG Pump
    CCC (iDrive computer)
    Alternator
    2 Idle Actuators
    1 Throttle Actuator
    Steering Angle Sensor
    Passenger Seat Mat Sensor
    Vanos Pump
    2 Vanos Solenoids
    Spun Rod Bearing

An amazing and fun car when it's not running up $1,000+ repair bills.. It's really a roll of the dice if you get one. I have friends that have $30k+ in repairs like myself and I know others that have little to no issues in 70k miles.. Click here to enlarge

Sorry to hear man! Def a lot of work on that car! Hope it all works out for you. From all my research prior to jumping into the M5, which im soooo happy I have done, over a C63 and my fully modded 335i, 2006 are the worst year for the M5. 2009 and 2010 are the best. I got a last month 2009.5 build and the car runs perfect to the T. Hope it stays like this.

I appreciate the positive response brother! I have no regrets buying mine even with all the issues. But I would love a 2010 with the new iDrive and full factory warranty Click here to enlarge

I wish you many healthy miles in yours.

Tzo4xjr, why dont you trade in yours for a 2010? If u factor in the cost of an extended warranty 4 these cars and spend that money and hopefully a little more along with trading in your car and hopefully end up in a newer car

I've considered it.. I've also considered a 2010 M6 SMG too.. I'm just ready to move on from the S85. I've had mine for 2 years and have enjoyed the hell out of it. Check out my youtube if you haven't already, I've uploaded 140+ race videos of my M5 Click here to enlarge I'm going to make a move in the next couple months or even sooner. Just need to work out whatever issue has my car stalling at idle and she's GONE. I'm not going to say what I'm getting, as I'm the type of guy that just does it rather than talk about it. I'll continue to post over here though with whatever I get.

I just need to load up on coffee and get a triple monitor setup and then I can do it. Also need to handcuff myself to my PC. So, it's coming.
