Jaguar/Land Rover finally going turbo - BMW to supply N63TU/S63TU twin turbo V8's to replace Jaguar's supercharged V8
Here we go again. In case you forgot BMW previously supplied Jaguar/Land Rover with a V8. Specifically the naturally aspirated M62 V8 for the 2002-2005 Range Rover. Jaguar and Land Rover developed their AJ133 5.0 liter direct injected V8 architecture after this.
Keep in mind BMW owned the Rover Group for six years selling their majority stake in 2000 but continuing to supply transmissions, electronics, and motors. BMW still holds a stake today.
Now, this is pretty good news for everyone. Jaguar and Land Rover will finally get a more modern architecture with turbos as their supercharged V8 quite simply is overmatched by their German turbo V8 competition.
The N63TU and S63TU aftermarket will expand which is good for tuners and good for BimmerBoost with Jaguar fans no doubt looking into tuning.
This is all very early and we will have to see what models get the engine. BMW is updating the S63TU for the next generation M5. It's possible Jaguar will receive this variant.
This certainly is cheaper than Jaguar/Land Rover developing a new turbo V8 and BMW's motor is proven.

Hopefully they come up with a way to make the new turbo motor sound as good as the current supercharged one.

In a way its sad as Jaguar won't have its own motor and it would have been cool to see them add turbos to the 5.0 liter.
Meh, another car with the same turbo V8 design except this time it's the EXACT same as a competitor.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped

I'm happy about this. Shopping the RR Sport Supercharged to double as a DD and tow rig, but if it's gonna go TT I'll just hold off for the update.

Such a shame. In 20 years everyone will be driving almost the same cars.
The N63 in particular sounds good, it's just too muffled from factory:
Fun point about the S63 is its basically resembling sound of the firing order of a flat plane crank with that trick manifold it has. I don't know why though its such soulless sound.
