    Another C7 Z06 loss - stock 2015 Challenger Hellcat versus stock 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 from a roll

Prepare yourselves for a fanboy #$% storm. If you thought the reaction to the Gen V Viper versus C7 Z06 video was strong we can only imagine what is in store for this one. The Z06 and Hellcat you see in the video both participated in a private drag day and the C7 Z06 finally broke into the 10's.

The Hellcat elapsed time did not impress and it clearly struggled to hook up. So what happens when you run from a roll and remove the traction issue from the equation? What you see here which is the Hellcat pulling away and showing off its massive power.

The Hellcat makes more power than the C7 Z06 with 642 wheel horsepower compared to the LT4 587 wheel horsepower. Interestingly, the LT4 makes more torque with 617 lb-ft at the wheels compared to 573 lb-ft at the wheels for the Hellcat.

The Z06 is a manual so that certainly is a factor as the Hellcat appears to be an automatic. The 8L90 C7 Z06 should make this an even race and maybe even edge the Hellcat out.

A very interesting development though considering the roughly 1000 pounds lighter C7 Z06 can not pull away from the Challenger on the highway. Yes, we know the roadcourse is a different story.

There was a response from the owner of the Z06, he was claiming not be able to hook up in every run. He is pissed at the Hellcat owner, for not posting the race videos from the dragstrip were he handling beat the Hellcat.

He was the Z06 that broke into the 10's that day. He said he put his stock rear tires/wheels back on after they left the dragstrip. He thinks they were basically frozen from sitting outside in 40 degree weather and 20+ mph winds.

Anyways, it does seem the new Z06 is having great trouble getting its power down. Also GM designed the Z06 to have all its power down low, which definitely will help it on the road courses.

They clearly did hence the smaller blower. The torque down low is phenomenal no arguing that.

It's a shame he isn't respecting the C7 Z06 owner despite him giving a run.

The thing is though up top the Z06 even once it was moving could not close any gap and it only widened.

Yeah, going by all the videos posted lately. I think the Hellcat would do well against a lot of stock cars. If you look at the magazine testing data, the Hellcat should be a beast from the roll. Too bad everything else about the car blows.

The Hellcat is pretty awesome for what it is. Just straight muscle.

It's heavy, it's poorly balanced, but you sure get a ton of HP for a bargain. I really like it.

Where he was on drag radials and the Hellcat is on its stock bicycle tires? Not a fair comparison.

    Good point.

This was street tire to street tire.

The Z owner ran on street tires and then drag radials second half of day, to set 10 sec pass. I believe they both lined up on street tires at the strip.

Either way the Hellcat was trapping less than all the Z's and Vipers at the strip, never exceeding 126mph.

True but I'd bet it's trap would go up on drag rubber.

The run from a roll shows the 126 is not indicative of its capability.

Sure it would go up. But the stock rubber times/traps that day for the Z and Viper were quicker still.

If you look at the magazine test data for both the Hellcat and new Z06, the Z06 is quicker to 130mph. Hellcat takes over from there. Hence why the Hellcat is prime for roll racing. The 126mph is indicative of what the Hellcat is capable of at the strip, moving that heavy weight from a dead stop. I believe the Z06 should always be quicker from 0-130, given both cars get equal launches. Once the Hellcat is moving, i.e. roll racing. The Hellcat should be quicker. So in that sense, the trap speed are not indicative of it's roll racing abilities.

The trap speed in this case is a bit deceiving and the Hellcat clearly is a roll on beast. The Z06 is WAY lighter though, what the hell?

Roll racing is very frustrating, it really is just whoever is making more power.

    Digs showcase the entire gambit.

As the Z06 owner said he just couldn't hook up on the street. It doesn't make much sense, especially when you watch the Viper TA vs Z06 video. The Z06 is some of the races lost by less than a car length. That same TA trapped over 130mph consistently at the strip, they are very quick cars. I believe on a day were traction isn't such a problem, a Z06 and Hellcat should be more even. I see the Corvette engineers right now watching the the viral videos unfold, think to themselves "um...we didn't design this car for roll racing...we put over 500lbs of downforce on this car".

Exactly. Its a pure "muscle car" in the original sense of the word. Its just a ridiculously fast highway and boulevard cruiser.

I had the displeasure of driving some Dodgy cars during my FL trip... The Hellcat is aptly named ... great engine but he rest of the car is HELL...

I then had to drive 600 miles from NC back to the Hamptons in a Charger after my 540i died, what an uncomfortable POS... maybe the worst driving experience of my life... so uncomfortable, grippy $#@!ty brakes, good engine, crap tranny... my missus whined the whole way as she couldnt get comfortable.

Only reason to buy a Hellcat would be if you go in a str8 line boys

As I have been thinking and saying

hence I will never buy one or a C7 Vette as everyone I have been in has the same problem.. power for days but it only gets some of it down... disappointing

Heres some feedback on the Z06 doing what it was built to do... break track records:

Maybe this will shut the critics up until the next highway race video comes out?
